Costing Analysis (CAT) Tool
OCCI Reports can be generated using the Cost Analysis Tool (CAT):
CAT - Cost Analysis Tool (Note: This Tool requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher)
The CAT tool can generate reports based on Case Mix Groups for diagnoses and procedures.
Important Notes:
- A case represents one patient visit. The patient cost is determined by costs incurred within the patient’s admit and discharge dates in the functional centre.
- Physician costs are typically not included in the OCCI database with the exception of physicians on salary and hospitals billing fee-for-service in areas such as Diagnostic Imaging and/or Cardiovascular Services.
- For the facilities which do not cost Allied Health, such costs were estimated for completeness. The services in Allied Health that were estimated are as follows:

- Prior to FY 04/05, Ambulatory Care includes only Day Surgery.
- Beginning in FY 02/03, the ICD-10-CA Classification system was used. Prior to FY 02/03, ICD-9-CA was used.
- Beginning in FY 01/02, complexity is not included.
In accordance with the Freedom of Information Privacy of Privacy Act (FIPPA), CMGs, DPGs, diagnosis or procedure codes with 5 or fewer cases will not be released. An “FOI” (freedom of information) will be displayed in its place.
